Quiet City is Tim Saternow's first solo exhibition of watercolor paintings at The Prince Street Gallery.
Tim Saternow paints the old buildings and side streets of New York City as large watercolor paintings.
His focus is on how shadow interrupts light and reveals the textures of brick, glass, and concrete of old buildings and their puddled, neglected side streets. His urban landscapes start with precise draftsmanship, then he breaks this perfection with thrown paint and puddles of color.
These are buildings we pass without a word.
I make the city quiet.
